About the house

One bed going in our apartment at 33 La Trobe Street, right in the Melbourne CBD. Available now. Straight up so nobody wastes a trip, this is one bed in a bedroom with two single beds. You would be sharing the room with one other guy. It is not a private room. The room is furnished. Single bed, built in wardrobe with mirror doors, hanging space and drawers, bedside drawers and a heater. No desk in the bedroom, but there is a big dining table in the apartment if you need somewhere to work. You can turn up with just your bags. $232.50 a week, $750 bond. No agency fees. Bills are cheap. Gas is free. Electricity is already covered up to mid October and my share for the whole period was about $50. Water is around $20 a month each. Internet is not included. Everyone buys and cooks their own food so there is no shared grocery bill. The place is a 3 bedroom apartment with 6 people and two bathrooms, so three per bathroom. Kitchen has a dishwasher, there is a washer and dryer in the laundry, and a balcony with city views. Building has a lift, a pool, a gym and electronic security. The location is the good part. Tram stop directly out front and it is inside the free tram zone. Carlton Gardens is across the road. IMAX is about 500m. RMIT is a 10 minute walk. Shops and groceries close by. No car park, but you honestly do not need a car here. Five of us live here. Most are RMIT engineering students and one works full time. Everyone does their own thing but it is a friendly house, not a silent one. We just want someone tidy who chips in with the cleaning. Open to anyone, student or working. Pets fine. Smoking outside only. No minimum stay, if you need to move on later you just find someone to take over, same as I am doing.
